Illustration

In my process as a botanical illustrator and product designer, I start by gathering resources, scouring through images and information on the plants I aim to depict. This initial research lays the groundwork for my sketches, which I refine into a handful of final drawings. With great care, I add color to these sketches and explore various background options. Colors are drawn from the landscapes, whether they are deserts, seascapes, wadis or mountains.

Once satisfied with the colored drawings, I weave them into compositions for specific products I’m designing, be it textile patterns, apparel, or designs for paper-based items. Alongside this creative journey, I continuously strive to learn and improve, seeking guidance from knowledgeable individuals in the botanical and design realms to ensure both artistic excellence and botanical accuracy in my work.

Some illustrations take longer than others ranging from 4 to 20 hours. I most enjoy being out in nature discovering the beauty that fuels Sandflower Studio’s mission.
